Power-Assisted Liposuction

Another form of tumescent liposuction procedure performed by Dr. Bell at his accredited surgical centre in Toronto, is called power-assisted liposuction (PAL). This method removes fat, and assists with the same slimming results as in a traditional liposuction procedure. PAL is a technique is designed for firmer or more fibrous fat.

Power-Assisted Liposuction Techniques May Be Used To Reduce Localized Fat Deposits In The:

  • Back
  • Thighs
  • Chest area
  • Inner knee
  • Upper arms
  • Calves and ankles
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Abdomen and waist
  • Cheeks, chin and neck

In some cases, Dr. Bell will perform the power-assisted liposuction procedure on its own. In other cases, it may be combined with procedures such as a breast reduction, facelift, or a tummy tuck.

During Your Initial Dialogue, Dr. Bell May Wish To Discuss The Following Issues:

  • All current medications you may be taking
  • Any medical conditions or drug allergies you may have
  • Any previous surgeries or medical treatments you may have had
  • Your reasons for wanting the surgery and the results you’re hoping to achieve

Power Assisted Liposuction Overview

During the power-assisted liposuction, Dr. Bell will use a power-assisted wand, or canula, in which the tip of a suction tube is able to dislodge and emulsify the targeted fat cells. This makes them easier to remove or redistribute to other spots in the body for a more aesthetically pleasing result.

Your improved body contour will become more apparent as your body adapts to the redistribution of the targeted fat cells. Dr. Bell will advise that, with a continued healthy diet and regular exercise plan, the loss of excess fatty tissue should be permanently maintained. He will caution, however, that significant weight gain can alter what would be an otherwise permanent result.

Recovering From Power Assisted Liposuction

Once Dr. Bell completes your power-assisted liposuction a compression garment or elastic bandage may cover the treatment areas to help with the recovery process. Dr. Bell will show you how to care for the treated area, prescribe any required medications to aid healing, and discuss follow up appointments.

A special note: Dr. Bell will caution that occasionally, secondary procedures may be recommended to further reduce excess skin. Special precautions such as these are sometimes advised when undergoing this procedure at his clinic. This is part of the normal, thorough protocol followed at Dr. Bell’s surgical centre in Toronto.

Dr. Bell will reassure you that the initial results of power-assisted liposuction should continue as long as you control your weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

A significant weight gain can reverse your results. Following power-assisted liposuction, Dr. Bell’s liposuction patients find that a slimmer body more accurately reflects their healthy and active lives.
